While we are not quite a hotel in Helmsley, we are certainly close-by. 8 miles is the distance, on quiet roads, which usually takes around ten minutes by car. First-time guests to our hotel often take a day trip to Helmsley.
Helmsley is a very popular and historic market town. Arranged around a central market square, the town monument is hemmed in by cosy pubs, the town hall, boutique food shops, brasseries and cafes.
In terms of visitor attractions, there are a few options; Helmsley Catle, dating from around 1200, now with an excellent visitor centre; Helmsley Walled Garden, a five-acre site built in 1756, now restored to its former glory; Helmsley Arts Centre, where all sorts of performances are staged; Nunnington Hall (4.5. miles east of Helmsley), a beautifully maintained 17thC Manor house; Helmsley Pool, an outdoor pool with limited opening times, and; Rievaulx Abbey, with it's wonderul terrace and views (many combine a visit here with Nunnington Hall).
