All the dishes created in our restaurant contain local, and seasonal, produce and with such an abundance of fine produce readily available in our wonderful region, we're able to obtain most of our ingredients as locally as possible.
The Game and Venison featured on our menus is sourced very locally, from our neighbours at Hovingham Estate!
All of our Hovingham Lamb and Turkey comes from Peter Stark, just 2 miles west of Hovingham in Coulton. All of their Lamb comes from their traditionally reared flock and at Christmas time they produce traditional Turkey’s.
All of our Fish and Shellfish is locally caught and freshly delivered to us by Inshore Fisheries on the North East Coast.
Taste Traditions Ltd
We source whole Rare Breed Pigs from Taste Traditions, who are a Mother & Son operation, farming in nearby Cold Kirby, in the North York Moors Natinal Park. The Ashbridge famiy have farmed in Cold Kirby for three generations. We then create various dishes on our menu using the rare breed meat, including the Rare Breed Sausages that are regularly featured. As well as also sourcing their Home Cured Bacon and York Ham (using their rare breed pigs), we also buy Rare Breed Beef (Dexter, Aberdeen Angus & Longhorn). We even use minced aged Dexter Beed in our hand made burgers!
The Courtyard Dairy
We're very proud of the Cheese selection on our menus that's carefuly selected and sourced from the Cheesemonger of the Year - The Courtyard Dairy, based in Settle, in the Yorkshire Dales.
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil
Producers of Award Winning Oils, Dressings and Mayonnaise made from the finest cold pressed Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil - all produced using seed grown and pressed on the chalky soil of the Yorkshire Wolds.
Herb Fed Poultry
We source all of our Poultry from Edward Wilkinson's Herb Fed in York. Edward's free-range Chickens are fed on fresh herbs, from Herbs Unlimited (a local herb grower) and a corn based diet that provides a Yorkshire chicken with a difference.
Preserves and Sauces
We are now using Bracken Hill Yorkshire Preserves, based in Elvington, near York. They supply us with our horseradish sauce, mustards and the like - we're delighted to offer to our guests these delights on our Gourmet Steak menu.
Wellocks search the globe to find producers and farms that take pride in what they produce and work hard to provide us with fruit, vegetables, dairy, poultry, meat, fish, sundries and store cupboard essentials.
Through Wellocks, weve found ButterBees of Malton, who provide our Yorkshire hand-rolled salted butter. It is lovely.
Greedy Little Pig
Our Pancetta is supplied by Carl and Sarah Slingsby at Greedy Little Pig. All of their produce is sourced, wherever possible, from their farm located high above the picturesque town of Holmfirth in Yorkshire.
Ryeburn of Helmsley
Luckily our Ice-Creams and Sorbets don't have too far to travel, as they are created and produced in the neighbourig town of Helmsley!
Johnson's Fresh Farm Eggs
Our Free Range and Fresh Farm Eggs are provided by the local, family business, Johnson's in Terrington. Their farm is located just 2 miles away from Hovingham.
Mrs Jam, Linda Shipley
Mrs Jam makes our Strawberry Jam and Seville Orange Marmalades, in the nearby village of Stow, near Malton. The Jams and Marmalades are made using only hand picked, local, srawberries, the finest Seville oranges and by hand, using the old fashioned way - with no preservatives - for real taste and quality.
We're now being supplied with smoked salmon, scallops, razor clams and oysters by Loch Fyne. Here's what they say: " Loch Fyne products are ethically sourced and provide an indulgent, yet naturally healthy treat. We are proud to harvest the pure waters of the loch and bring you the salmon, seafood and oysters that will add a sense of prestige and style to any dining occasion." We'd have to agree!
